The C/NOFS Satellite             BACK

The C/NOFS satellite is being built by General Dynamics Spectrum Astro Corporation.

It will accommodate the 6 instruments that make up the C/NOFS payload.

The CINDI instruments consist of an Ion Velocity Meter (IVM) and a Neutral Wind Meter (NWM) that will be built at UTD and then delivered to the Air Force for integration on the payload module that is shown here.

In addition the C/NOFS payload includes a radio beacon for ionospheric tomography (CERTO), a vector electric field measurement (VEFI) and a magnetometer, a GPS occultation experiment (CORISS), and a planar langmuir propbe (PLP).
